MAXBrowse 1.2 Released [18] 01/04/2008 20:53
Posted by: AnthonyJ
The latest version of MAXBrowse is now available for download. For those who haven't tried MAXBrowse before, it is a server browser created with the aim to be as easy to use, and without adding unnecessary baggage. This version adds support for some Q3 engine games - Q3, ET, and Warsow, as well as the latest D3-engine game, ETQW.

There are also some requested feature additions, such as minimise to systray, improved accuracy of pings. For full details, check the changelog.

Note that the TV filter now works for those games which support TV servers (ETQW, ET, Warsow, Q3 and Q4), but that for Q3 and Warsow the TV's don't report to the master server, so you have to add the IPs in manually.

Q4MAX 0.81 Release [4] 03/02/2008 23:01
Posted by: hemostick
We are pleased to announce the release of Q4Max 0.81. This release is mainly focusing on additions to the superhud and some improvements to Freezetag, but of course there is the usual collection of other assorted changes.

For example, the new hud_useTeamColors cvar makes the hud use the same team/enemy colors as the skins, or if you'd rather stick to a marine vs strogg color scheme, you can now change these too - eg the minimal hud style is set to red vs blue.

Freezetag has had quite an update, with a whole host of fixes and changes. For example, the multipov mode while frozen has been updated so that you can now cycle through the players. There are other changes, like frozen gib effects when players thaw, and an improved feeling to the knockback when you shoot frozen players.

For full details, see the Changelog.

Q4Max 0.80 Release [64] 02/12/2007 19:06
Posted by: AnthonyJ
We are pleased to announce the release of Q4Max 0.80. In addition to the usual assortment of fixes and optimisations you've come to expect, this release brings a number of major changes.

SuperHud: This new system allows you to easily to create custom HUD layouts, and gives a significant boost to framerate - typically increasing FPS by 25%. Anyone who has edited a CPMA SuperHud will be largely familiar with the syntax, although there are a few differences, so take a look at the examples and documentation.

Multiplayer Bots: Our Artificially Intelligent friends have reached the point where we are happy to list them as a feature. In addition to basic navigation skills, they understand some complex concepts like timing armors and dodging their opponent's fire. There are always ways bots can be improved, but hopefully you'll enjoy them at this point.

Menu Restructure: The menus have been significantly restructured ; most importantly, the entire settings menu is accessible in-game.

For full details, see the Changelog.

If you wish to use bots, either offline or on your server, you will also need AAS files - download these additional pk4s:

MAXStats 1.0.4.0b released [23] 13/08/2007 16:20
Posted by: panni
After over one year of pure absence in terms of MAXStats/compatibility, Quake4, Q4MAX and CPMA I'm finally back to present you some changes, fixes and new features.
Because of a major change in my work-life I now got the time to focus on Q4MAX a bit more, once again.

As most of you will know there have been some XML statistics format changes in the last Q4MAX versions with which MAXStats couldn't cope well.

In the 1.0.4.0b version complete support for XML statistics files from the Q3 mod CPMA and Q4MAX is included, aswell as bugfixes for DNET, reparsing of dump data, and XSL styles.
Additionally I've changed the way of how the skiplists for awards and weapons are handled, and I've added the option to define a playername skiplist, which will lazily check for existing playernames in that list and will skip them if needed.

Changes included are:

  • fixed compatibility problems with current CPMA and Q4MAX XML data structures; old XML format should still be supported but is deprecated
  • added "FILTERING" section to config for lazily skipping awards, players or weaponnames
  • fixed big reparsing bug of "DNET" and "Thaws" of dumped data
  • fixed some internals
  • removed unecessary datetime javascript filtering for xsl
  • 1.0.4.0b hotfix: weapon issues with only one weapon used in a player's match
  • 1.0.4.0b hotfix: added weapon pics for CPMA

Download MAXStats 1.0.4.0b:

  • MAXStats 1.0.4.0b Fragstore Mirror .RAR .ZIP

Check out the demo version with CPMA statistics

Documentation is available in the archive as Documentation.html, or via the MAXStats Wiki.

I hope you will find this update handy - if you experience problems with very old statistic XML files, please fallback to the 1.0.3.2b version available in the download section.

Feel free to submit your bugreports, suggestions and opinions in the corresponding forum thread.

MAXScores update for Q4 1.4.2 compatibility [21] 08/07/2007 17:39
Posted by: panni
After a long time of no updates regarding the Q4MAX Scorebot 'MAXScores' we finally managed to find the time needed for a small update.
The previous 1.3.6 version didn't work with either the 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 PointRelease of Quake4, so we had to get this one out.

As this only has been a quick hack to provide support for the current Q4 versions no new features have been included yet - although the core of MAXScores_Bot.py in SVN serves a much bigger featurelist we couldn't find the time to merge sources yet.

Be patient mates.

As before we've got a WindowsBinary release with included GUI for easy configuration management, aswell as an updated SourcePackage for all non-Windows OS's. For those trying to run MAXScores on, let's say Debian Linux, a 'apt-get install python2.4 python-twisted && python ./MAXScores_Bot.py' should serve you right.

Changes included are:

  • add: support for Q4 1.4.2

Q4Max 0.78d release [29] 21/06/2007 01:53
Posted by: hemostick
A couple of issues have cropped up in q4max 0.78c, and with WSVG Lanwar so close we thought it worth releasing a small update.

As Q4Max 0.78d only updates 1 file, it can be installed as either an update to 0.78c, or as a full install which does not rely on a previous release. If upgrading from 0.78c, unzip the update over the top of your existing 0.78c release. As usual, server admins should delete the old zz-q4max-game-078c.pk4.

Changes included are:

  • chg: net_clientPredictWeaponSwitch defaults to 0
If you experience bogus weapon switches, set this to the new default value.
  • fix: "scoreboard bug" with spectators shown as in game after changing to spectator
  • fix: spectimers no longer vanish after a serverMapRestart

Q4Max 0.78c and MAXBrowse 1.1 release [20] 18/06/2007 23:25
Posted by: AnthonyJ
Q4Max 0.78c and MAXBrowse 1.1 are now available to download.

The new Q4Max is compatible with Quake 4 1.4.2, and adds a few fixes and tweaks of our own. One change is that si_fps is now controlled by modes - defaulting to 90 fps for Duel, and 60 FPS for all other modes. This will hopefully make TDM / CTF playable for more people. There is also a Battlesuit powerup (thx g0th) which mappers can use - currently no maps have this, but keep an eye out for new map releases.

You may notice that we've been working hard on getting multiplayer bot support working, however they're not quite ready for general use - so they're still officially coming "soon".

MAXBrowse has also had a few changes in response to feedback - it now features icons for the PB + password columns, and the ability to automatically run the correct version of the game if you have multiple installs (eg Doom 3 1.3 vs 1.3.1, or Q4 1.3 vs 1.4.2). Also included are fixes for a few important issues, such as the menus being corrupted.

Q4Max 0.78b Release [28] 19/04/2007 21:51
Posted by: AnthonyJ
Q4Max 0.78b is now available to download. This includes fixes for a number of important issues (as well as a couple of extra goodies), and we recommend that all servers running Q4Max 0.78a be upgraded to this release as soon as possible. This includes fixes for too much damage caused on linux servers, projectile collisions not displayed at the correct positions, Q4TV not displaying the time, unable to switch between players on Q4TV, and other issues.

Note that 0.78b is not compatible with 0.78a demos, so if you wish to watch these you will need to use demo_enforcefs 2, which is "enforce all" in the demo menu.

For full details, see the changelog.

Q4Max 0.78a and MAXBrowse release [24] 03/04/2007 21:16
Posted by: AnthonyJ
Since the Q4 1.4 beta and q4max 0.78 releases, we've been working closely with id to address many of the issues that have come up so far in the beta, the result of which is q4max 0.78a, for Q4 1.4.1 (beta 2).

The server crash problem seen with g_feedscorebot enabled is resolved, as is freakiness caused by changing si_fps while the server is running, and problems while spectating. We've also thrown in a couple of other changes - like a new railstyle, and coloured brightskin previews in the menus.

Also now available is the first release of MAXBrowse - a new server browser for Quake 4, Doom 3, and Prey. The automatic filter-tree in MAXBrowse allows you to easily find servers running with your preferred settings without the need to configure complex filters. We hope that you'll find it useful, and an improvement over your current server browsers.

Workaround for frequent server crashes in 0.78 [21] 12/03/2007 00:28
Posted by: hemostick
Many people have reported frequent server crashes with Q4Max 0.78. We have found the cause, which will be adressed in the final Quake 4 1.4 Point Release.
The temporary workaround is to disable the scorebot feed on your server with g_feedscorebot 0.
The sample server config has been updated accordingly.
Q4 1.4 final will require a new release of Q4Max.
